Sup ladies and gents..Just wanna remind my mailing list members of
an extremely important date..The release of Jin's album droppin on
Tuesday, October 19th. YES, ITS REALLY DROPPING THIS TIME!

Some of you may be wondering why I should cop this album, you might
not even like him or his sound. But the fact of the matter is, the
success of his album is extremely important for the Asian-American
breakthrough into the music world, and all media in general.

If he does well, it will DEFINITELY open doors for all others in the
game, especially those involved in hip hop. Personally, I'm thinking
about coppin a couple of his cd's, possibly even 10. The point is,
we need to show these labels the power of the market behind him.

He is the test, if he fails, don't expect anyone to break through
for at least another 5 years, maybe even longer. He is our best
chance at this point in time, he has the opportunity, lets do our
very very best to support him.

I don't ask yall for much, at least I try not to..But if you're
really a supporter of change, put your money where your mouth is and
cop 'The Rest is History.' Seriously, LETS DO THIS!!

Wow... big ups to Chan... He totally hit on why supporting Jin is so important. Not to say that Jin is the messiah for Americans of Asian descent, but in some ways he is.

There is NO other major Asian American artist out right now getting the same amount of buzz as he is. If he blows up, then that will open the door for people like Chan, or even singers that left the West for the East (like Coco Lee). The journey's gonna be rough, but we HAVE TO support him.

It's not the same situation. Whites are a minority in the hip-hop game, but Asians are non-existent in the hip-hop game AND a minority in America. I'd like to support Jin (and I give major props to people like Klep and Serg who are non-Asian, yet they rep Jin more than a lot of Asians) on the basis of his talents alone, but to discount the fact that I'm ALSO supporting him because of who he is would be a lie.

I support people of my religion, school, state, county, and ethnic background- not because I think that any of those things are necessarily the greatest, but because that's who I am. There's nothing wrong for supporting Jin just because he's an American of Asian descent. It's about making sure that other people don't see him as a gimmick, because gimmicks fail, but the real deal does not.

So I guess to answer your question, I am NOT supporting Jin just based on his race. If I only support people who are Asians bursting into music, then I'd be supporting William Hung, and we ALL know that fool doesn't count. I am supporting Jin because I think he is capable of making a difference, which is what we need these days.
